Following the aftermath of COVID-19 and a period of uncertainty, Shawnee shifted her focus from the heavy political and social narratives that once characterised her work.

Instead, she embraced the subtleties of life, cultivating a sense of gratitude for the everyday. This new direction explored finding beauty in the mundane and celebrating the interconnectedness between people and their environments. Shawnee began incorporating elements she loves - streetwear aesthetics, urban architecture, graffiti, and the art scattered across city streets. This body of work aims to resonate with viewers through a shared sense of place, capturing familiar urban landscapes in a way that fosters connection.

Centred around her hometown, Auckland City, she created a series of cut-out styled paintings, each offering a unique perspective on the elements that define the city's character and spirit.
