2023
Continuing her exploration of interconnectedness, Shawnee experiments with skateboard bases, reflecting her urban aesthetic and prompting innovative compositions. This venture evolves into limited edition boards, marking a significant step in her journey as a creative entrepreneur and showcasing her adaptability within contemporary culture.
2022
Following the COVID pandemic, Shawnee shifts her focus to celebrating everyday beauty and interconnectedness. Through cut-out styled paintings of Auckland City, she incorporates elements like streetwear aesthetics and graffiti, fostering a shared sense of place and reflecting her newfound gratitude for life’s subtleties and human connections.
2020
Shawnee exhibits in Tautai’s Saltwater/Interconnectivity exhibition, contrasting media narratives of oppression through a vintage television and an iPhone. Interactive QR codes reveal historical and contemporary issues of racism, prompting reflection on the media's influence. This exhibition marks a pivotal evolution in her artistic journey.
2019
In her final year at Whitecliffe College, Shawnee creates her series Good 4 Sale, exploring the commodification of “good” through advertising. By using QR codes for interactive animations, she merges technology with traditional painting, marking her evolution in the vinyl cut stencil process and setting the stage for her future work.
